Are Strawesome Glass Straws Unbreakable? (On the Moon, Yes!)
Share
There’s a fun rumor floating around that our glass straws are unbreakable. While we’ve always been clear they’re made of glass (and glass can break), I decided to test them myself.
The Drop Test
I dropped our straws from counter height onto cement, granite, tile, and other hard surfaces. The results? They survived about 50% of the time — which proves they’re tough and durable, but not indestructible.
That got me wondering: if our straws use the strongest commercially available borosilicate glass, why did NASA use this same type of glass on the space shuttle? After some research, I found the answer: on the moon, glass is as strong as steel. Aha!
The “Unbreakable” Theory
So maybe the folks claiming our straws are unbreakable have either:
- Taken their Strawesome straws with them on a trip to the moon, or
- Are aliens visiting Earth who love our products so much, they brought them home as souvenirs.
Either way, we’re thrilled to have intergalactic approval! 🚀🌙
Back on Earth: Care Tips
Since most of us are sipping on Earth, here’s how to keep your glass straw feeling “unbreakable”:
- Treat it like any other glassware — avoid drops on cement, tile, granite, or other hard surfaces.
- In the dishwasher, place it in its own section, away from silverware.
- After use, rinse and set it aside in a container until washing, rather than leaving it in the sink.
The Bottom Line
On Earth, our straws are durable, safe, and built to last — but yes, they can break. On the moon, though, they’re virtually unbreakable.
Happy sipping!
